Summary: They’ve been best friends for most of their lives. Now, they’re Dom/sub & sometime bed buddies. But is that all there is to them? Is that all they’ll stay?
Reminder! This story takes place in Monoshizukanohi which belongs to ! I borrow the universe to play in, which she has graciously allowed. Crossover/canonizing my stuff into her universe is at HER DISCRETION ONLY! Got it?
Kotetsu couldn’t believe he’d done it. But the thought of losing the collar, the thought of ending it that soon just hadn’t sat well with him. Oh, it wasn’t completely ending, he knew that. He was still ringed and plugged and he knew Izumo had ideas for other things yet that evening.
But Tetsu had wanted something… more. Maybe it was the comment earlier about flirting with Wash’s crush or the way Zumo – even though it was as Sir – had said he loved him, maybe it was just something else entirely, Tetsu didn’t know and he refused to think too much about it. What he did know was that he wanted the collar and its reminder that he belonged to Zumo in a way no one else did. He wanted the rules and the strictness that came with that part of their relationship.
And, Tetsu could admit at least to himself, that he wanted that bit of claim on him.
Kotetsu knew that were they part of a larger D/s community, it didn’t always work that way. Some Doms had no trouble leaving their subs behind for a while and playing with another. He doubted Zumo would ever do that, but it wasn’t something he could know, either, unless they were faced with it. But for now, for the situation they were in, it meant that Zumo belonged to him in a very specific way.
That was, in part, why he’d chosen their clothes the way he had.
Kotetsu shook his head a little at himself and closed his hand a bit tighter around Izumo’s. They hit the street and turned down the sidewalk. Glow was up ahead and they could see that it was already starting to get busy. There were a few people milling around out in front and the bouncers were set up on either side of the door.
After proving their age, they stepped through the door and looked around. The bar itself took up most of the wall to the right, there were high tables ahead of them and they found Ebisu and Iwashi at one near the back of the group of high tables, along the edge of the dance floor, not far from the pool tables. As they approached, Eb looked at their hands, re-clasped after they’d put their wallets back in their pockets, then look up at Kotetsu’s collar and he raised an eyebrow over the tiny round sunglasses that had permanent residence on his nose. “Well, hello.”
“Eb, Wash,” Izumo greeted them, his steady gaze meeting Ebisu’s. “Heard from Gen?”
“They’ll be here. They’re running late.” Wash said, rolling his eyes. “They got… delayed. Gen’s words.”
Ebisu grunted. “Got delayed ‘cause they’re too busy fucking.” He sent a pointed look at Izumo and Kotetsu. “Seems they’re not the only ones late.”
Izumo just snorted. “Jealous, Eb?”
Ebisu didn’t reply. Kotetsu wondered at the look for another minute, then turned to Izumo. “Can I get drinks, Sir?” He asked in the other man’s ear.
“Yes. Thank you, pet,” he replied, gently squeezing Kotetsu’s hand before letting go. With one more glance at the other two, Tetsu turned and headed to the bar.
Tetsu approached the silver-haired bartender, after slipping around a pair of very androgynous-looking people who seemed to be trying to swallow each other whole. He shook his head and turned to blink at the man behind the bar.
The first thing that struck him about the bartender was the fact that, despite the shock of nearly white hair, the face was young. Maybe only a couple of years older than he, himself was. The second thing to get through his surprise was the mismatched eyes. He had one brown and one blue eye. It took him until the man in question cleared his throat for Kotetsu to get his thoughts together and stop staring. “I’m sorry.” He blushed and scrambled for his wallet. “Start a tab, please. Hagane. Um, two Guinness pints, please.”
“Hagane?” The silver eyebrows went up and he glanced at the credit card Kotetsu had handed him. “Hagane Kotetsu?”
“That’s right.” Kotetsu said, raising his own eyebrows. “Is… there a problem?”
“No. Actually, I was going to call you today,” the bartender said, then moved over to the register to swipe the card.
Kotetsu blinked at him. “Excuse me? Do… I know you?”
“Not yet,” he said, then held out his hand. “Hatake Kakashi.”
“Pleasure,” Kotetsu said, automatically, shaking the other man’s hand. Tetsu noticed the handshake was firm without being overbearing. He clasped his whole hand, not just part of it and met his eyes when he did it. “How…”
“I believe you’re acquainted with a friend of mine. Maito Gai?” Kakashi asked.
“Gai? Of course. I take lessons at the Dojo,” Kotetsu said as he glanced over at Izumo, realizing he was taking a while. His friend was watching with raised eyebrows and he blushed. He held up a finger and Izumo nodded, turning back to the table. When Tetsu turned back, he saw the mismatched eyes dart to Izumo, back to him and down to his collar. He watched the interested expression move over the bartender’s face and had the uncomfortable feeling the man knew exactly what his collar was. He shook the feeling off. “How… um, I’m afraid I’m not sure how you know my name from Gai.”
“Oh, he mentioned you to me the other day. He told me that you were a computer security specialist,” Kakashi said, watching him carefully.
Kotetsu raised his eyebrows. “I somehow doubt that. I’d be surprised if Gai knew what a computer security specialist was.”
Kakashi nodded and chuckled, then turned to build their Guinnesses. “That’s true. Okay. I looked into you. I have a proposal for you, but this isn’t the time to discuss it.” He pulled a business card out from under the bar and set it in front of Kotetsu. It had the Glow logo on the front, the address and phone number of the bar and “Hatake Kakashi, proprietor” at the bottom. He flipped it over and there was a hand-written number on the back. “Call me at the number on the back tomorrow afternoon.”
Kotetsu considered the man for a moment. If he was a friend of Gai’s, he probably wasn’t too bad, but that didn’t mean much. He was a bartender. With nearly-white hair, mis-matched eyes and a penchant for looking into other people’s lives. Kotetsu may have gotten out of the life his mother led, but he still had a suspicious streak in him. However, it couldn’t hurt to call and, maybe, talk to the man. “Okay, I will. Thanks.” Tetsu put the card into his wallet, took his credit card back and picked up the glasses of Guinness. Kakashi nodded once, then headed down the bar to deal with another customer, shooting the odd couple next to Kotetsu an amused look.
Kotetsu turned and headed back to the table, handing Izumo his beer. “What was that all about?” Zumo asked.
Tetsu took a sip of his beer. “He wants me to call him tomorrow. He says he heard of me through Gai, that Gai told him I was a computer security specialist and that he has a proposal for me.”
Izumo raised an eyebrow. “Oh, really? Gai doesn’t know what you do, beyond the fact that it’s with computers.” Kotetsu gave him a sharp look. His own suspicious streak must have rubbed off a bit.
“Yeah. That’s what I said and it seemed to amuse him. He says he looked into me.” He shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t know. But I guess it can’t hurt to call tomorrow.”
“No, I guess not.” Izumo turned to look over at the bar and Kakashi waved once. Zumo waved back and shrugged. “What kind of proposal, do you think?”
“The only thing I can think of is something computer-related, though it seems a little… odd to be approached like this for it.” He shook his head. “But I guess I can hear him out.”
“Yes, and you don’t have to accept anything, do you?” Izumo asked.
Kotetsu shook his head. “No, that’s what I was thinking.” He glanced up at Izumo, then dropped his eyes. “Sorry… Sir, I’m… still getting used to the idea of this outside of… well, of home.”
“That’s alright, pet." He glanced over Kotetsu’s shoulder and grinned. "Oh look, Gen and Rai and don’t they look thoroughly fucked.” Izumo said, chuckling.
Kotetsu looked over and sure enough, that was the exact expression on their faces. He chuckled. “Yes, Sir, they do.” When the pair approached, they both waved.
“Hello!” Genma said, grinning around the ever-present toothpick in his mouth. His waved first to Ebisu, who was too busy watching Izumo and Kotetsu to reply, then to Iwashi, who was still looking for the waitress, then finally Kotetsu. His eyes dropped to Tetsu’s collar, then back up to his face, his eyebrows raised, then glanced toward Izumo.
Izumo put his hand on Tetsu’s back and gave a short single nod. Genma’s grin just widened and took on a leer, and he shook his head. “Hey, Gen.” Izumo nodded to him, then turned to Genma’s partner. “Hi, Rai. Good to see you.” Izumo greeted them.
Raido nodded in response, his own gaze not missing the new comfort between Kotetsu and Izumo. “Hello. So, did we get a pool table?”
Ebisu finally spoke up. “Yup. Who’s going to lose to me first?”
“Oh pet, we can’t let that go, can we?” Izumo asked through the spiky black hair and Tetsu grinned.
“No, Sir, we can’t,” Kotetsu said back, then to the table at large, he snorted. “We’ll see who wins, Eb. Zumo and I against you and… whoever you think might actually help you do something.”
Ebisu laughed. “Right. Let’s go. Rai, you’re with me. Let’s see how much we can sucker these two out of.”
“Sure.” Raido said, heading over to the corner pool table and pulling the rack out from its slot. He glanced at Tetsu and nodded, sending a pointed look at his collar and Tetsu wondered, not for the first time, if those two were also involved in D/s. He shook his head and pushed the thoughts away, then headed to the wall to choose his cue.
He picked out one for him and one Zumo would like and when he got back to the table, Ebisu had the balls and Raido was setting them up. “Who breaks?” Tetsu asked, taking another sip of his beer before setting it back on the table and picking up the chalk.
“We can be generous,” Eb said, pushing the glasses higher on his nose.
Tetsu looked to Zumo, carefully keeping his eyes from meeting the other man’s. “Go ahead, Tetsu, you’re better at breaking than I am.”
Kotetsu nodded and took his position at the end of the table. He lined up the cue ball, took a deep breath, focused and on the exhale, took his shot. He sank three solids and two stripes and grinned at the whistle from Raido. “I think that means we’re solids, hmm?” Tetsu asked, chuckling.
Izumo snickered. “So, Eb, what’s that about suckering us out of something?”
Ebisu sniffed. “It’s early yet.”
“Sure.” Izumo replied, laughing.
Kotetsu ignored the exchange, examining the table with a critical eye. He’d learned how to play pool one summer from one of his mother’s current toys. The man, for whatever reason, hadn’t tried to get cute with Tetsu and had, instead, tried to be a sort of big brother figure. He’d taught him to play pool and various other things that could be done in a bar. Tetsu could also shoot darts, play video poker and just about any other bar game with the best of them.
“Seven in the corner pocket,” he said, pointing to the appropriate spot. He lined up his shot and took it, sinking the correct ball. He managed two more similar shots, but by the fourth, he was running out of options. He decided to take a chance. He had six already in and only one solid besides the eight ball on the table. “Three in the side,” he said, pointing again, and taking aim. This time he missed, though he’d kind of expected to. He smiled at Ebisu. “I believe it’s your table.”
Kotetsu stepped back to Izumo and grinned over at him. “How’s that, Sir?”
Izumo chuckled. “Remind me never to play against you, pet.”
“Of course, Sir, but you learned that years ago, didn’t you?” He asked, grinning.
“Yes, yes I did, pet.” Izumo laughed. He put his hand on Tetsu’s back and let it slide down over his ass. Kotetsu did his best to hold in the shudder, then he felt the pressure on the plug and had to fight much harder against the moan when the damned thing hit his prostate.
He turned around briefly, pretending to look around the room. “Fuck, Sir,” he whispered and caught Izumo’s smirk.
“Like that, did you, pet?” He asked and Tetsu groaned. His cock had finally started to go down and his erection was now back with a vengeance.
“Yes, Sir,” he groaned, working to surreptitiously adjust himself.
“No more touching yourself without my permission, pet,” Zumo said, squeezing Tetsu’s ass again.
Kotetsu swallowed the moan and managed another “Yes, sir.”
That followed for most of the night. Just as Kotetsu would start to calm down, Izumo would tease him again. They won two more games of pool in a row and, despite the comment Izumo had made earlier, he was as good as Tetsu. Kotetsu had taught him long ago how to play, right after he’d learned, himself. Ebisu tried to separate them when they’d won the second game, but after taunting from Zumo, he gave up. At the end of the third game, they took a break to watch Wash make eyes at the waitress.
“Are you ever going to talk to her?” Izumo asked when she’d left with their kitchen order.
Wash blushed. “Sure, I am.”
“Besides to put in orders for the kitchen,” Zumo clarified, shaking his head. Wash just blushed more.
“You’ve been staring at her for two months, now.” Kotetsu pointed out.
Izumo chuckled. “Maybe I should talk to her instead.” Tetsu clenched his jaw and said nothing.
“Dammit, don’t do that.” Wash’s blush got worse.
“I don’t know, she’s kind of cute…” Izumo grinned, his eyes firmly on Wash.
Wash blinked. “I thought you didn’t like women.”
Izumo shrugged. “Maybe I could try it. You know, I never have dated a woman before, so…” He let it trail off, chuckling, then glanced over at the growl Kotetsu let out and blinked at the other man, who was staring at him.
Tetsu looked away quickly, but not quite fast enough. “I’m sorry, Sir,” he mumbled.
Izumo didn’t say anything at first and Tetsu tensed. Fuck, did I just screw up? What would he do in public? The horrible feeling of possibly disappointing him, however, was still just barely overshadowed by the jealousy, though Tetsu didn’t understand why he was jealous.
“It’s… okay, pet.” Izumo said, but Tetsu heard the disappointment and he swallowed around the lump it caused. Zumo stared at him another moment then put a hand on his back and turned back to Wash. “Seriously, man, I’m not going to talk to her, but if you don’t, someone else will.”
Wash sighed. “I know, I know. Shit, here she comes,” he said, his color draining.
Kotetsu watched her approach and set the baskets of finger foods on the table along with their fresh drinks. She smiled at them, turned her smile on Wash and Kotetsu tilted his head toward her, staring at his friend. “Go on!” He mouthed the words.
Wash swallowed. “Um, hi.”
Her smile widened. “Hello to you.”
“Um, mynameisWash.” He said and Izumo buried his face in his free hand.
“I’m sorry?” She said, raising her eyebrows.
Kotetsu sighed. “His name is Wash and he wants to know if you’d like to go out with him sometime.”
Izumo’s head shot up and he slapped his hand over his mouth, his eyes dancing. Wash looked like he wanted to sink through the floor. She just laughed. “Oh! Well, Wash, I’d be happy to.” She picked up her pen, wrote something on a napkin on her tray and dropped it in front of him. “I’ll be back to check on you later, Wash.” She winked as she walked away and his blush came back brighter than ever.
Iwashi stared down at the napkin in front of him. “Kim.”
“Hmm?” Kotetsu asked, his attention back on Izumo’s shoulder.
“Her name is Kim,” Wash said in a stunned voice. “And she gave me her phone number.” His mouth was still hanging open.
“Isn’t that what you wanted?” Izumo asked, raising his eyebrows.
“Yeah. Um… thanks, Tetsu…” he said, staring at the napkin.
Kotetsu shook his head. “Don’t worry about it. The harder part is still to come. At least, as I understand it. Though I don’t know for sure, as I’ve never dated a woman.”
“Excuse us a minute, Wash.” Izumo said and turned to Kotetsu, looking him over. He leaned in to Tetsu’s ear. “I let the first one go because we’re new to dealing with this in public. The second one, however, we need to discuss. What was that, Tetsu?”
Kotetsu shook his head, staring at the collar of Zumo’s shirt. “I… honestly don’t know, Sir.”
Izumo frowned. “You’ve disappointed me, pet,” he said and Tetsu swallowed hard. Why had he reacted that way? What the hell had he been thinking? What was he jealous of? Why was he jealous? Zumo wasn’t his, outside of their D/s relationship and he didn’t want him to be. Right?
Kotetsu pushed that question away and turned his mind to the other issue. It wasn’t like he had a lot of rules to follow as Zumo’s sub, especially tonight, especially in public. Sir only wanted him to do a few things and he’d fucked one of them up. He swallowed again, the bitter taste of Sir’s disappointment sharp on his tongue.
“I’m sorry, Sir,” he said, focusing particularly hard on a single silver thread in the fabric.
Izumo nodded. “Accepted.” He paused and considered him. “Sunflower.” Kotetsu’s eyes widened and his throat went dry. Izumo never used one of the words, he’d never had a reason to.
“Tetsu, look at me.” Kotetsu looked up and met Izumo’s gaze. “This is very different for both of us. There’s more here than us being Sir and pet and our rules surrounding it, but this isn’t the time or place to discuss it. I shouldn’t have said what I said to Wash, least of all not when we’re in this mindset. I’m sorry.
Kotetsu shook his head. “You have nothing to apologize for, it’s your right…” he started, but Izumo held up a hand.
“I think I do. Just accept it and we’ll talk more later, okay?” Izumo asked, his eyes searching Tetsu’s face.
Kotetsu stared at him for a few more seconds, then nodded. “Okay. Accepted. Can we… still…” he trailed off as his fingers worried at the edge of his collar.
“Yes, pet.” His gaze met Kotetsu’s again. “Eyes down,” he said and Kotetsu dropped his gaze to Izumo’s shoulder.
“Yes, Sir.” Kotetsu breathed a small sigh of relief.
Izumo smiled. “Good. Now, I think Gen and Rai would like to try to beat us at pool, pet.”
